Harvest Bellini & Sangria Bar :: Chef Mark Cleveland @ Hungry Harvest ::

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20 mins,
Servings: 2 Tons of Fun

Yes, we are thoughtful consumers & environmentalists.  We embrace misshapen produce as we share our bounty with our neighbors in the urban desert.  Now, let’s get this party started.  The fruits of our Harvest in champers & wine!

This Harvest Bellini & Sangria Bar comes together in minutes.  Slice the fruits.  I found mulberries at my farmers market and added them to the mix.  Bellini is a classic peach & sparkling wine concoction, so I used peaches, nectarines & an Italian sparkling rose wine.  Instead of doing all the traditional prep for Bellinis with syrup and peach nectar, I serve some sorbet on the side and let the fresh peaches speak up

Sangria is more open.  I use a combo of fruits like apples & pears w/ some citrus for zing.  I like a mix of red and white wines for a light and fruity punch.  You can even serve sparkling water or wine along side for a sparkling sangria.  Add any herbs you fancy.  I like lemon verbena, lemon balm, mint & pineapple sage.

Fresh herbs

Set out an array of glasses.  I always add a few small cordial glasses for those that want ‘just a sip!’  I like to add a hefty pinch of cardamom to my sangria.  Its earthy fragrance is a conversation starter.  Left over sangria keeps in the fridge for several weeks.  The fruits only get better.

1
Cup
Cooked oatmeal

1/4
Cup
Greek yogurt

1/2
Cup
Sangria fruits

You didn’t hear it from me, but sangria fruits on a Sunday brunch oatmeal start the day off mighty fine!
